Johnson Controls to invest $100 million in new plant in China


MILWAUKEE, Wis. Johnson Controls announced on September 14 that it will invest $100 million to build a factory for “start-stop” vehicle batteries in China.

The company is pondering on several potential locations for the new plant and a final decision is to be made in the upcoming months. The new plant, expected to start production in early 2013, will supply local and global automakers.

Currently the company has three plants in China in Shanghai, Changxing (Zhejiang Province) and Chongqing.

The company anticipated the market for vehicles fitted with start-stop technology will grow to 35 million globally by 2015.
