Bentley offered £3 million government grant to sell cars in China
AutoChina.org (Shanghai November 3) - Bentley has been offered a government grant of £ 3 million to boost car sales in China. Regional Growth Fund will help the company take care of all its research and development expenses which it will entail to develop new engine technology especially for Chinese auto markets.
Earlier, the company was offered £ 1.7 million to train workers and now six months later with this grant it will ensure that more of its vehicles are sold in China. Bentley sold 1000 cars in China during 2011 and with the grant it will safeguard 200 jobs in their engineering department. Mr. Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief executive of Bentley said that their customers in China look forward to being offered quality products in terms of technology, engineering and design.
With the help of the grant, the company will be able to ensure this quality especially in emerging markets of China. Bentley’s R&D operations will take place at the company headquarters at Pyms Lane with its 4000 employees which they plan on increasing during the coming year.
