Beiqi Foton teams with Infineon to develop vehicle energy systems

BEIJING－ Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. announced on September 2 that it will deepen cooperation with Infineon Technologies AG on development of key automotive systems, battery charging and energy storage systems of new energy vehicles.

According to the memorandum of understanding Foton signs with Infineon, Beiqi Foton will adopt Infineon’s solution in its multiple battery management systems (BMS) to optimize the system’s software and hardware. It is the first time for Infineon to apply this solution to commercial vehicles.

Beiqi Foton has become an important supplier for new-energy vehicle demonstration project in Beijing, owning 50 Midi electric taxies in operation. The fleet is expected to include 500 vehicles in 2012. Foton also has sold Euro V hybrid buses overseas.
